Telethugs (2025) for MSX

--------------------------------

~ Introduction ~

Telethugs is a “run and gun” game originally created and published for PC by Pedro Paiva in 2019, now converted to MSX and ZX Spectrum by Amaweks. This is the first genuine result of our partnership on "Most Hated in Gaming", and it was also made as a tribute to Pedro's extensive work as a game developer.

--------------------------------

~ Program ~

The game is available in English or Portuguese, 50Hz or 60Hz, in disk or ROM format.
Improvements in the MSX version compared to the ZX:

- Twice the FPS
- More colorful and detailed backgrounds
- Sprites with more precise movement
(separation between the player’s torso and legs)
- PSG sound effects instead of beeper
- Jukebox screen to listen to each track separately
- In each stage you now control a different Telethug
	(player sprite colors change)
- With the MSX 2-button controller, aiming up and jumping are now on separate commands.

You need to use real hardware or an MSX emulator to run the game. Use your preferred emulator or visit: https://webmsx.org/ (The emulator supports USB controllers and full screen via the icon in the bottom right corner)

--------------------------------

~ Controls ~

Controls can be redefined on the title screen. By default, keyboard controls use the arrow keys to move the player, and the M key, Spacebar, and N key to shoot, jump, and pause the game.

The left and right arrows move the player horizontally. The up arrow is used to aim upwards, and it’s possible to shoot diagonally by pressing up and left/right simultaneously.
Button 1 (M key) is for shooting, Button 2 (Spacebar) is for jumping. The game will also require the use of keys 1, 2, 3, and 4 to select options on the title screen and the difficulty selection screen.

~ Music ~

Most of the game’s music consists of adaptations and rearrangements from the original PC version. Pedro Paiva did a brilliant job choosing rap songs and other tracks that represent the Telethugs universe, while also paying tribute to the original artists. Below are the original references for each track:
